Beginner Bellydance:

Sunday - Bellydance Level I/II at Work-it Dance and Fitness, South Norwalk CT. This drop-in friendly class focuses on the foundations of bellydance. Introductory movements will be taught including snake arms, hip accents, shimmys and isolations. In addition, students will begin to layer movements, learn more travel steps and occasionally dance with veil (ongoing). Wednesday- 6:30-8PM Introduction to Middle Eastern Dance (History and Technique) at Norwalk Community College.  This is a 10 week series that includes lecture and an introduction to basic bellydance movements.  Students will learn a short choreography and gain knowledge about popular bellydance rhythms, innovative dancers, how bellydance came to the U.S. and more.  This class runs twice a year in the Fall and Spring semesters. 

Thursday- 7-8PM Beginner Bellydance at Westport Continuing Education.  This 9-week series will focus on building a strong foundations for bellydance.  Students will learn basic movements including hip bumps, hip drops, snake arms, and the ever popular shimmy!  This series runs twice a year in the Fall and Spring semesters. (Next series begins March 2012).

Saturday- Bellydance Level 1 at Work-it Dance and Fitness, 19 N. Main St., South Norwalk CT. This drop-in friendly class focuses on the foundations of bellydance. Intermediate Bellydance:

Wednesday- 8:30-9:30 Intermediate Bellydance at in Westport, CT.  This 12-week series will focus on taking bellydance to the next level.  Props will be introduced such as veil and finger cymbals.  We will also gain more rhythm awareness and explore layering techniques.  (Next series begins February 1st, 2012). 

Advanced Bellydance:

Wednesday- 9:30PM Advanced Bellydance/Performance Prep:  For students with min. 5 years experience, currently closed to new members.    

Bellydance Fitness:

Sunday - Bellydance for Fitness: Technique and Drills at Studio 44, 44 Main St., 3rd Fl.  Westport CT. This drop-in friendly class focuses on clean and safe technique by utilizing movement repetition, aka “drills.” Students will also do footwork patterns to Saidi and 9/8 rhythms for a high cardio workout. Classes are $20 drop in, or $150 for 10 classes. 11:30AM (ongoing).
